QUESTIONS
Practical answers.
Do I need any experience?
No. The Foundations program is designed for people who have never done this kind of work. Problems are scaled to the people in the room.
What actually happens in a session?
You and a partner get a movement problem with a clear goal and simple safety rules. You work on it. The constraint changes. You adapt. No one demonstrates a technique and asks you to copy it.
Is this martial arts?
UMBRA draws on the movement science behind grappling and combat sports, but it is not a martial arts class and there is no sparring culture. It is partner-based movement — contact, balance, pressure, adaptation.
Where is the lab?
Roseville, CA — a private garage laboratory. The address is shared only after you confirm a spot. It is never published.
How much does it cost?
Current pricing is shared directly with people who express interest. The program is small and scheduled deliberately — the price reflects that.
How do I start?
Express interest through the Join state. You'll hear back directly — no forms to nowhere, no newsletters. From there: intake, waiver, and a confirmed spot in a session.
How many people train at once?
Up to four per group. That is a limit, not a target. The lab is small on purpose.
What should I wear?
Anything you can move and sweat in. No shoes on the mat. No jewelry that could catch on a partner.
What if I'm injured or unsure?
Tell the coach before your first session. Everything is scaled, and some things are correctly declined. Your safety comes before the schedule.
